Rest In Peace Whitney Houston & Don Cornelius

Safe to say both Whitney Houston as well as Don Cornelius had a tremendous impact on my life, without me even realizing their significance in my development as an artist and as a person.

No I didn't know either of them personally, but if you came up when I came up, or anywhere around that time frame, Soul Train was surely a part of your Saturday mornings. Much of my love for music came from watching artists on Soul Train as cable wasn't that popular yet because most people couldn't afford it, and BET was only in its development stages anyway, so as far as I can remember the Train was one of the only places for me to actually SEE many of these artists perform. My love for entertainment grew each Saturday. Thank you Don Cornelius.

Now as for Whitney, what can I say? My earliest memories of her are back when I was a shawty in the early 80's. She was the pretty skinny lady with the big hair and the even bigger smile. Saving All My Love or maybe it was You Give Good Love to Me, was the first song I can really rememember. I think she even guest starred on Ricky Stroder show....what the hell was the name of it? Oh yeah, Silver Spoons. And Carlton Banks (lol real name Alphonso Rivera or Rebera or somethin lol) back when he had a jerry curl was Ricky friend on the show. Then she was on We Are the World with Mike Jackson and all of them. But when she did the Bodyguard it was a wrap! It was clear that she was more than special on the voice side. That whole Waitin to Exhale era brings back a lot of memories too. Good memories!

Ok so yeah she had some ups and downs. I don't know the story, so I dont condemn Bobby Brown. Life happens yall. Addiction is a disease. Everbody's probably got at least one addict in the family. Yes she may have fallen from grace at times throughout her course of life, but look at the level of greatness she once aspired to. How many of us have done that? And who are you or I to judge the next person anyway? Let us not forget that it was a God given talent, which she shared with the world for the majority of her time here on earth. Who's perfect? Thats what I thought. Now yall be easy on Whitney and let her soul rest in peace. Her job is done. No more pain. No longer waiting to exhale cuz now u an angel, and I know u singin in God's choir!

Her and Luther Vandross probably up there doin a duet right now! Imagine that!
